The details parameter
What it does
TRUE to add the extra SPSS tables to the report; FALSE or empty - the usual report.
STATS_CROSSTABS: row percentages, column percentages and adjusted residuals, three tables after the summary (SPSS CROSSTABS: % within row, % within column, adjusted standardized residuals). STATS_CHI2: two tables at the end, after Warnings (SPSS CROSSTABS /STATISTICS=CHISQ PHI).
TRUE, 1 or their text turn it on; FALSE, 0, their text or empty turn it off. Anything else is an error: details must be TRUE or FALSE (or 1, 0), got "yes".
Off by default: the report stays as it was. On: the block is taller by the added tables, and everything above them stays where it was.
Values
Optional.
In plain words
A coach looked at clubs and found that 10 of 30 girls and 8 of 20 boys chose chess. With details FALSE, the report from STATS_CROSSTABS showed only the counts. With TRUE, it also showed 33 percent of girls and 40 percent of boys, and a table that points out the cells with more or fewer students than expected. STATS_CHI2 with TRUE adds two tables at the end, with checks that suit small counts and how strong the link is. The block gets taller, so the cells below it must be empty, and everything above it stays where it was.
Where you use it
STATS_CROSSTABS— Observed contingency table for a pair of categorical columns.STATS_CHI2— Pearson chi-square test for association between two categorical columns.
Examples
TRUE— Add the extra tables (STATS_CROSSTABS: percentages and residuals; STATS_CHI2: Chi-Square Tests and Symmetric Measures)FALSE— Only the usual report
