The mu0 parameter
What it does
Hypothesized population mean (μ₀): any number, including decimals and negative numbers (5.5, -3, "5" written as text).
If omitted, the value from Settings (0 by default). Not a number is an error: mu0 must be a number.
Values
Optional; default 0.
Should be any number
In plain words
A baker says each loaf weighs 500 grams. A shop owner weighed 30 loaves, and the average was 492 grams. mu0 is the number the average is compared with. With mu0 set to 500, the answer is that the loaves are 8 grams below the promise. With mu0 set to 490, the same loaves are 2 grams above. If she leaves mu0 empty, the number from Settings is used, 0 unless she changed it, and then the test only asks whether the average differs from 0, which is rarely the question. So she types the number she wants to check against.
Where you use it
